IMG_9312_2.jpgThe “University of Tokyo Shokumon Prize” is given to individuals or groups (except in principle for current students, faculty, and staff) who have largely contributed to the development of the University through private donation, volunteer activity or other forms of aid. The annual Prize has been in place since 2012.

Mr. Kentaro Ogawa, Chairman and CEO of Zensho Holdings Co., Ltd., has been selected for the Prize for the following reason:

The contributions made by Zensho Holdings Co., Ltd. to the “Zensho-UT Japan Studies Program at VNU-Hanoi” (five years since May, 2011) and “Zensho Todai Nanjing Liberal Arts Student Exchange Program” (five years since September, 2013) each greatly propel academic exchange between the University of Tokyo and universities in Vietnam and China in the area of cultivating individuals on whose shoulders our future can rest. Particularly remarkable is the long-term and continual nature of the support.

At the ceremony, after a report on the selection process, a letter of award was handed to the representative, followed by congratulatory remarks by University President as well as a speech by the award recipient. Following the ceremony there was a reception for the recipient and others who were involved to interact with one another in a cozy atmosphere.
