The history of the mirror in East Asia is not short. The mirror has fulfilled its function while holding various cultural meanings. In this lecture, I am going to talk about the history of the mirror and its cultural meanings whilst examining its diverse images and examples.

The Associate Professor Lin graduated from the Xiamen University and the Jilin University (MA). His professional career includes an Assistant Professor of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (University of Tokyo), an Associate Professor of College of Arts and Sciences (University of Tokyo), an Associate Professor for the Programme of Cultural Heritage, Department of Chinese and History (City University of Hong Kong). His specialities are history of ideas, literary and cultural history of modern Chinese and modern Japanese.
