I Want to Experience Joint Fieldwork with Chinese Students

Outline: In November every year, we invite 10 advanced students of Japanese from Nanjing University, China to Tokyo and host U Tokyo-Nanjing Joint Fieldwork. It is our hope that the students will gain a genuine understanding and imaginative capacity for how people live and think, by exposing themselves to the ways of life for people in Tokyo. Through the fieldwork focused on people’s living spaces rather than tourist destinations such as museums, busy areas of the city, and historical sites, and through discussions among students from the two schools, we facilitate a process through which the students can discover a unique perspective on “Tokyo.”
